Substance Use Treatment

EMPOWERR offers a number of services to the public as well as to community organizations that target young adults (emerging adults). Please contact us for more information on any of the services listed below.

Awareness Events

EMPOWERR participates in numerous health fair and awareness events each year in the community and on college campuses. During these events EMPOWERR's aim is to:

  • Disseminate medically accurate prevention information regarding HIV/AIDS, STI's, unplanned pregnancy, and substance abuse
  • Offer free HIV and STI testing in partnership with local service providers
  • Offer information and referrals to local mental health, substance abuse, and reproductive health services

We regularly participate in events such as the Charleston World AIDS Day, Dream Girls Conference, Charleston Black Expo, Latin Festival, Charleston Pride Festival, and other community awareness events.

HIV & STI Testing Events

EMPOWERR also partners with several local testing agencies to conduct large scale testing events in the community and on college campuses. Testing is FREE and may include: HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia. We offer these testing events on college campuses such as Trident Technical College and College of Charleston. We can also accommodate other youth serving community organizations that are interested in hosting an event.

Substance Abuse Prevention

EMPOWERR staff and volunteers are trained to implement an evidence based substance abuse prevention intervention called SBIRT, or Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment. This intervention is offered in conjunction with participation at awareness events.

Guest Speaking Engagements

We are available as guest speakers on a wide variety of topics related to sexual health, HIV, STI, and unplanned pregnancy prevention as well as substance abuse. We can also modify the discussion to suit your event and audience needs. Please contact us for more information.
