The Division of Sleep, Mood, Anxiety, Research & Treatment (SMART) is an adult outpatient clinic within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences in the MUSC College of Medicine providing state of the art evidence based treatments for adults suffering from various sleep and anxiety disorders. The clinic serves patients with primary diagnoses of social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD.
The clinic also provides behavioral and psychopharmacological interventions for sleep disorders including insomnia, hypersomnia, narcolepsy, REM behavior disorder, periodic leg movement, and restless leg syndrome. The SMART division also conducts IRB-approved sleep research, which often includes polysomnography (PSG), multiple sleep latency tests (MSLT), and other physiological assessments in the sleep research laboratory.
