Transplant surgeon Ahmad Alqassieh MD Joins the MUSC Department of Surgery

Ahmad Alqassieh, M.D. joins the MUSC Department of Surgery, effective September 1, 2021, as an assistant professor in the division of Transplant Surgery. Dr. Alqassieh specializes in abdominal organ transplantation with a special interest in vascular access surgery for dialysis patients and kidney transplant.   

Dr. Alqassieh joins MUSC after successful completion of the MUSC Abdominal Organ Transplant Fellowship program.  Prior to entering the transplant fellowship, he was a surgeon at the King Hussein Cancer Center.

Dr. Alqassieh attended The Hashemite University for his medical degree. After medical school, he completed his surgical internship at Prince Faysal Hospital and attended Jordan University Hospital in the general surgery residency program, graduating with distinction.      

He is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the Jordan Medical Association and the Jordan Society of Organ Donation. He is also a published author.

Dr. Alqassieh is involved in charitable organizations and has served as a member of the National Goodwill and the Operation Smile campaigns.
