Colorectal surgeon Colleen Donahue M.D. Joins the Department of Surgery

Dr. Donahue joins MUSC

Colleen Donahue, M.D. joins the MUSC Department of Surgery as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the division of Colorectal Surgery. Dr. Donahue completed her colon and rectal fellowship at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. During her fellowship training, she held the academic appointment of Associate Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Rush University in Chicago.

She completed her general surgery residency at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA, where she was Chief Resident in 2020. During residency, she served as an Associate Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. She received the Program Director Resident Award in 2020 and the Medical Student Clinical Teaching Award in 2019 and 2020.  Dr. Donahue earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2015.

Dr. Donahue is an active member of multiple national societies, which include the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, American Medical Women’s Association, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Donahue’s research efforts are also quite impressive. She currently has 7 peer-reviewed publications and 15 posters and presentations to her name many of which she served as a Lead Author.
