Chun Li, M.D., MPH, Joins the MUSC Division of Vascular Surgery

Chun Li, M.D., MPH, joins the MUSC Department of Surgery as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery, effective September 1, 2024. Dr. Li completed her vascular surgery clinical and research fellowships and her general surgery training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). During her training, she held the academic appointment of Instructor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. She also completed a master’s degree in public health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.  

Dr. Li is an active member of multiple national societies, including the Association of Women Surgeons, the Society for Vascular Surgery, Candidate member, the American College of Surgeons, Resident member, and the American Medical Association.

She received the BIDMC George H.A. Clowes Research Symposium—Best Basic Science Presentation Award and was a finalist in the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery Allastair Karmody Poster Competition. She has 45 peer-reviewed publications, many of which she served as a Lead Author.

She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 2014, where she received the Emory University Joseph B. Whitehead Scholarship.

Before entering medical school, Dr. Li was a research technologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for Computational and Integrative Biology, led by Ramnik Xavier, M.D., Ph.D. The Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at MGH supports investigators at the hospital and across Boston through various autonomous cores that provide services in DNA sequencing, oligonucleotide synthesis, microarray analysis and research laboratory automation.

She attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering and a minor in biomedical engineering, and captained the Women’s Varsity Fencing team and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player.
