Michael R. Zile, M.D.It is a sincere pleasure to wholeheartedly and enthusiastically announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Zile to Distinguished University Professor of the Medical University of South Carolina on behalf of the Department of Medicine with the approval of the College of Medicine, the Administration and the Board of Trustees. This is the highest honorary academic rank in the College of Medicine, requiring both international prominence and sustained, meritorious service to MUSC.

Dr. Zile has established an international reputation as a basic, translational and clinical investigator in heart failure, his robust funding portfolio over his entire career - which has benefited MUSC and MUSC colleagues, his commanding stature as an international heart failure expert and thought leader, his invaluable contributions to colleagues as a mentor and collaborator, his many administrative contributions in his role as Chief of Cardiology at the Ralph H. Johnson Veteran's Administration Hospital and his stalwart commitment to clinical practice and his excellence as an educator at every level. Without question, in the cardiovascular research and clinical communities, he is a "house-hold" name, esteemed for the multiple contributions over his career that have deepened our understanding of the mechanisms of heart and informed heart failure clinical practice worldwide.

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Zile on his appointment effective December 13, 2019, to Distinguished University Professor.
