The Department of Medicine's Employee of the Quarter program showcases employees who have shown exemplary strides in contributing to the Department of Medicine and to the MUSC community.

At the end of the year, two Employee of the Year winners (a Team Member and a Team Leader) and two Medicine Excellence Winners (a runner-up Team Member and a runner-up Team Leader) are selected from the pool of quarterly winners.

Congratulations to our 2019 Employee of the Year and Medicine Excellence Winners! Thank you for your outstanding contributions to the Department and for going above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis!

Team Leader Award Winner: Lisa Burkhardt, Finance Administrator, Medicine Administration

Team Member Award Winner: Laura Grimball, Administrative Assistant, Division of Infectious Diseases

“Laura epitomizes what it means to truly care for patients and to go the extra mile. "Admin Assistant" does not even closely describe what Laura does. She is a patient advocate.”

Team Leader Award Winner: Elizabeth Swan, Division Administrator, Division of Endocrinology

“Elizabeth has worked extremely hard creating an APP schedule that would reduce the number of clinic cancellations monthly. Endocrine's provider cancellation rate has decrease from 18.47% to 7.05% in one year. PLEASE BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS IS HUGE.”

Team Member Award Winner: Gwen Blanton, Program Coordinator, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy & Sleep Medicine
