Dr. Silver, MUSC physicians, and patient
Richard Silver, M.D., Distinguished University Professor in the Division of Rheumatology & Immunology, and physicians care for patient.

The MUSC Department of Medicine established the Richard M. Silver, M.D., Endowed Chair to honor Silver’s compassion for his patients, his significant contributions to the field of rheumatology, and his unwavering dedication and commitment to training the next generation of physician-scientists. An endowed chair is the highest academic honor that can be bestowed upon a faculty member and provides a permanent means of supporting continued progress in a vital field of medical research.

Due to the generosity of so many of Silver’s patients and colleagues, the Medical University of South Carolina is now within $65,000 of reaching the $1 million threshold that will allow MUSC to fully fund the endowment and enhance one of the best rheumatology programs in the country.

If you have already made a gift toward the Richard M. Silver, M.D., Endowed Chair, thank you for your generous support. If you would like to support this important initiative, please make your gift online or contact Nat Howe directly at howen@musc.edu or 843-792-4280.
