Translational Research Unit (TRU)

The MUSC Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery aims, together with the University, to change what is possible. We create new treatment opportunities through cutting edge research that our investigators foster. Over the years, we have learned that new treatments come through the joint imagination and collaboration of basic researchers working in laboratories and clinicians who provide care in the community.

The Translational Research Unit (TRU) facilitates the process of interaction between basic and clinical scientists and transforms the ideas of our researchers into clinical treatment realities. The TRU fosters dialogue between basic researchers, clinical researchers and the community by providing critical services required to accelerate the research process such as regulatory, financial, marketing and mentoring services. We are committed to accelerate the process between an idea and a treatment reality. Our patients deserve no less.

Mission

The mission of the TRU is to enhance clinical and translational research in the area of Neurosciences (Neurology & Neurosurgery). We will accomplish this mission by providing core structural services. These services will facilitate the receipt of new clinical or translational awards and aid in the operational management of those projects.
