Since 2022, Dr. Davis' tenure as the Interim Division Director has been characterized by exceptional leadership and dedication, exerting significant impact during this time.

Since joining the MUSC General Internal Medicine faculty in 1997, Dr. Davis has served key roles as a physician, teacher, and leader in the division and department. She is currently a Professor of Medicine and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine.

Throughout her 26-year career at MUSC, Dr. Davis has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the success of the university and has made significant contributions in clinical medicine, education, informatics, and leadership. Her impressive journey includes pioneering initiatives in clinical care and residency education, notably leading the development of University Internal Medicine (UIM) as a faculty practice and clinic site for all IM residents for their ambulatory/continuity experience.

Under her direction as Ambulatory Section Head for general internal medicine, the division’s UIM primary care team provides care for over 43,000 outpatients annually in its Rutledge Tower and East Cooper practices.

Dr. Davis has spearheaded initiatives to foster a patient-centered approach to health care, leading the UIM practice to become one of the first MUSC Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) certified by National Committee for Quality Assurance. She later led the certification of the East Cooper general internal medicine and Dantzler medicine-pediatrics practices. Additionally, she led the development of MUSC’s Rapid Access Clinic, a same-day urgent care clinic for MUSC employees located within UIM.

In addition to her clinical prowess, Dr. Davis has been at the forefront of health care informatics, overseeing the successful implementation of electronic medical record systems such as Epic. As the Associate Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) and Informatics Medical Director for MUSC, her work and dedication to advancing patient care and safety through electronic health record interventions and clinical quality process improvement projects has been widely recognized.

In her role as Clinical Vice Chair for the Department of Medicine, Dr. Davis has worked closely with department and division clinical leaders to address challenges in clinical operations, spearheading the establishment of Project Management Oversight Committees (PMOCs) across divisions. She also previously served as Interim Director of the Division of Endocrinology from November 2019 to November 2021.

Recognized for her outstanding leadership, clinical acumen and dedication to education, Dr. Davis has received multiple accolades, including the University Outstanding Clinician Award, the Department of Medicine Teaching Award, and the MUSC Distinguished Faculty Service Award. Dr. Davis is also involved in the American College of Physicians at the state-level, organizing the South Carolina Chapter's scientific meeting since 2001. She has authored many peer-reviewed publications and has been an invited speaker locally, regionally, and nationally.
