• Led by Dr. Matt Moake, our longitudinal ultrasound curriculum is built into the conference schedule
• Monthly interactive lectures with group discussions and review of previous scans
• Monthly small group scanning in the Pediatric ED
• Dedicated scanning shifts in the Pediatric and Adult ED
• Opportunities for additional training in advanced modalities
• All PEM faculty in the process of being formally credentialed in Ultrasound

• State-of-the-art 12,000 sq/ft Simulation facility with 13 rooms and over 30 mid to high fidelity manikins
• Monthly in-situ simulations done for fellows in the Emergency Department
• Under the supervision of Dr. Amanda Price, fellows develop and implement their own simulation scenarios.
• Resuscitation and procedural simulation teaching for the residents (with shift reduction given for time spent teaching)

• All fellows will design and implement a publishable research project during their fellowship
• Once a fellow identifies a research interest we will help pair you with an appropriate mentor and scholarship oversight committee
• Monthly meetings during and outside of fellows’ conference ensure that all fellows are making appropriate progress
• Fellows are expected to submit their research to a national meeting; if accepted the fellow will be supported for travel and conference expenses
• All pediatric fellows participate in both in-person and on-line courses in evidence-based medicine and clinical research methods during their dedicated research months
• Quarterly Journal clubs during conference or hosted by faculty
• All first-year fellows attend the national Pediatric EM Fellows’ conference where they present their research plan and receive feedback
• Free statistical assistance and electronic health record data requests provided through the MUSC SPARC center

• Fellows lead many of our educational conferences including Board review, PICU review, Radiology review, M&M, and Journal Club
• All fellows within the Department of Pediatrics participate in a longitudinal Clinicians as Educators lecture series
  • GME Certificate as a Medical Educator is offered to fellows who also complete an educational research project
• Scheduled on shift small group teaching for residents and medical students
• Didactic and workshop teaching during Academic Half Day for our Pediatric residents
• Grand Rounds lectures for Emergency Medicine residents
• Invited lectures and workshops for our regional health partners and local EMS agencies
• Opportunity to be a part of the Clinical Coaching program for Pediatric residents
• Mentorship of pediatric residents on the Medical Education Track
• Teaching during the Wilderness Medicine course for residents and medical students

• Fellows participate in inter- and intra-departmental Faculty meetings
• Fellows are encouraged to develop and disseminate new treatment guidelines and protocols based on discussions from fellows’ conference

• 3rd year fellows serve on the fellowship’s Program Evaluation Committee
• Fellows are given free access to the Institute of Healthcare Improvement’s course offerings including Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and Leadership
• Additional administrative opportunities and responsibilities are offered to fellows wishing to pursue certification as part of their individualized curriculum
