Amanda Herbst Wins MUSC Health PA of the Year

Congratulations to Amanda Herbst, MSPAS, PA-C, physician assistant in the Division of Hematology & Oncology, on winning the MUSC Health 2022 PA of the Year Award! We are incredibly proud of Amanda for this outstanding recognition and appreciate all the ways she is Changing What's Possible!

Compassion: Dr. Scribner, "I was reflecting on her advocacy for patients. She is a fighter for them, advocating for all their medical and occasionally social needs but doing so kindly, with compassion, and genuine interest and caring in each one of their individual cases. I am humbled to be her colleague. She motivates me by the example that she sets personally, clinically, socially. I would absolutely trust her to care for my family members or myself."  

Accountability: “She directly communicates with dermatology scheduling staff to ensure patients have follow-up for our multidisciplinary clinic. She is essential to helping these patients in spite of limited resources, following up on scheduling to make sure no patients fall through the cracks.” 

Innovation: “Her development of a program to monitor and titrate Bexarotene for cutaneous lymphoma patients has required the development of a system of obtaining appropriate labs through Labcorp, establishing phone communication to monitor and titrate the bexarotene, and incorporate supportive medications such as levothyroxine, statins, and fibrates to negate toxicities. This minimizes the need for patients to travel from out of town.”
