How to Apply

The MUSC Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). All applications are accepted exclusively through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Application Procedures and Guidelines

  • Submit your application once ERAS opens, applications received by the MSPE release date are given priority consideration for interviews
  • Initial notification of interview offers will be provided mid October
  • Interviews are typically scheduled through the months of November, December, and January

MUSC Med-Peds Interview Selection Assessment Criteria

  • Completed ERAS application
  • MSPE
  • Medical School Transcript
  • USMLE Step I and/or COMLEX 1
  • Two strong letters of recommendation (we do not require a Chair letter) - You are welcome to assign more letters.
  • Personal Statement
  • Research Experience

Applications from Foreign Medical Graduates

Requirements for foreign medical graduates include the same criteria as listed above plus the following:

  • Only applications received through ERAS will be considered
  • Medical school graduation within the past two years (unless already enrolled/completed domestic residency program)
  • Excellent communication in English - both written and verbal
  • USMLE Step I
  • Our program only accepts J1 visa
  • Must be ECFMG Certified prior to rank deadline
  • Additional materials may be required
