Dr. Maher grew up in Ohio but has been in the Southeast since college. She currently lives downtown with her cat, dog, and significant other. She enjoys being outdoors, especially in her garden. After residency, she worked in rural primary care before returning to MUSC.

She currently serves as a faculty advisor for the National Med-Peds Residents' Association (NMPRA) and is a member of the Association of Med-Peds Physicians (AMPP).
