Optimization of Biobehavioral Interventions Delivered in Routine Clinical Settings

 

Join us as we host Carly Goldstein, PhD, Assistant Professor (Research), Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Alpert Medical School of Brown University; Research Scientist, The Miriam Hospital's Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center as she presents on the Optimization of Biobehavioral Interventions Delivered in Routine Clinical Settings. This presentation will introduce the Multiphase Optimization Strategy as a method for optimizing biobehavioral interventions and demonstrate the importance of intervention optimization. Dr. Goldstein will then apply this research framework to adult primary care outpatients and cardiac rehabilitation patients who are attempting weight loss. The presentation will highlight the unique opportunity to use technology interventions to address barriers to care and improve clinical outcomes.

Carly M. Goldstein, Ph.D, is an Assistant Professor (Research) of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Weight Control & Diabetes Research Center of The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Kent State University. Her research is focused on developing and improving mHealth interventions and prevention programs for obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes utilizing novel technology. Much of her work involves adapting existing weight loss programs to clinical settings serving medically-complex patients including cardiac rehabilitation and primary care. Dr. Goldstein also conducts research using novel research methodology such as the Multiphase Optimization Strategy, qualitative methods, and implementation science. Her work is generously supported by the National Institutes of Health.
