Robert J Adams, M.S., M.D.

Distinguished Professor of Neurology
adamsrj@musc.edu

Dr. Adams is involved in an NIH funded study looking at Implementation of Stroke Prevention strategies in children with Sickle Cell Disease. This study is about 50-60% completed but a student could get involved in looking at risk of stroke in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) by helping analyze the data from the stroke risk screening test, called Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound (TCD).

  1. Student interested in one of the following might consider contacting me:
  2. Stroke in children
  3. Sickle Cell Disease
  4. Effect of anemia on brain circulation as assessed by TCD
  5. TCD as a tool to estimate risk of stroke in SCD.
