  • Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon T. Konrad Rajab, M.D. received the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Foundation Surgical Investigator Award. The tile of his research is Partial Heart Transplantation: A New Approach to Deliver Growing Heart Valve Implants.
  • Professor of Surgery Hongjun Wang, Ph.D. received notification from the NIH of an additional 5 years of funding for the clinical trial using mesenchymal stem cell infusion as an intervention for treating Type 1 Diabetes.  Charlie Strange, M.D. serves as the co-investigator of the NIH grant to explore novel treatments for patients with T1D.
  • Steven Kahn, M.D., Chief of Burn Surgery was named to the American Burn Association Board of Trustees. Dr. Kahn will serve the Board as Program Chair-Elect for 2021-2022 and automatically ascends to Program Chair 2022-2025. In addition to his new role with the ABA, he is an advocate for firefighter safety and serves medical advisor for state and international firefighters' associations.
