How You Can Help

We learn how to battle illnesses and make health care better from research. To do the best job, we look for many kinds of people to join in research studies.

That means we need people from many races and cultures to take part. We also need men and women, people both rich and poor, and people who live in many different types of places.

If you have a health issue, you might be able to help us find better ways to treat it, or even find a cure, if you take part in a research study. You might also help us learn why some groups of people have worse health problems than others.

Even if you don’t have health problems, you might be able to help others by joining a study. It is a great way for us to make healthier communities and a healthier world.

Use these websites to look for studies that might need you:

  • scresearch.org – Locate research studies in South Carolina. Search by disease or keyword, institution, or the name of the person in charge.
  • clinicaltrials.gov – This is a national list of publically and privately supported clinical studies. You can search for studies by location or by disease.
  • researchmatch.org – You can sign up here to take part in current or future studies.
