Surgery Pride

Our Mission:

• Provide a forum for LGBTQ+ candidates applying for positions with the Department of Surgery, and residents who are interviewing for residency in the Department of Surgery, to ask questions about the environment at MUSC, the department and the greater Charleston Area.
• Provide a community for all Department of Surgery LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and residents to feel welcome, supported and included.
• Provide a resource to Department of Surgery LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and residents to help answer questions about local resources available to the LGBTQ+ community.
• Provide assistance to Dr. Sharee Wright, Vice Chair of Disparity Education and Cultural Dexterity, and the Committee on the events that focus on LGBTQ+ issues.

Meetings:
Proud Surgery – A Department of Surgery LGBTQ+ Resource Group will hold a minimum of four quarterly meetings for our LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and residents. These meetings can act as a social team building meeting or serve as an educational resource opportunity to the members.
