ISRHML Program Overview

We cordially invite you to participate in the forthcoming 22nd ISRHML International Conference on Human Milk and Lactation Research, slated to convene in Charleston, South Carolina, from December 9th to 13th, 2024. Under the theme "Advancing Science, Fostering Inclusivity, Shaping the Future," this distinguished gathering promises to be a hallmark event in the realm of human milk and lactation research.

At its core, this conference serves as a nexus for the convergence of esteemed researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals hailing from diverse geographical locales and disciplinary backgrounds. It offers a meticulously curated platform conducive to robust scientific discourse, knowledge dissemination, and collaborative endeavors.

The overarching objectives of the conference are threefold:

  1. Facilitate Inclusive Scientific Exchange: By providing an inclusive forum for the exchange of scholarly insights pertaining to the intricate biology of human milk and lactation, we endeavor to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue and foster a more comprehensive understanding of this pivotal field.
  2. Advance Frontier Research: Embracing a forward-looking ethos, the conference is dedicated to showcasing pioneering research endeavors aimed at elucidating the multifaceted health implications of human milk and lactation. Participants can expect to engage with cutting-edge investigations poised to redefine paradigms and propel the field forward.
  3. Promote Knowledge Translation: Recognizing the imperative of bridging the translational gap between basic scientific inquiry and clinical application, the conference places a concerted emphasis on elucidating strategies for effectual knowledge dissemination and implementation within healthcare practice settings.

Distinguished by its specialized focus on the intricate nuances of human milk biology and composition, coupled with its unwavering commitment to facilitating seamless knowledge translation, this event stands apart as a beacon of excellence in the global scientific arena. Moreover, in alignment with established guidelines, the conference will adhere rigorously to WHO code protocols and will offer accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Education (CE) opportunities.

We extend a warm invitation to scholars, practitioners, and stakeholders alike to join us in Charleston for an intellectually enriching and professionally rewarding experience. Together, let us chart a course towards advancing scientific frontiers and shaping the future trajectory of human milk and lactation research.

Pandemic Uncertainty

The lack of certainty about the future trajectory of the pandemic makes it difficult to make an informed decision about almost everything.  With this in mind, we have listed some key points to consider as you decide between the in-person registration and the virtual registration:

While masks are currently* not required, we encourage the use of masks for individuals at risk of complications from COVID-19, including older adults and individuals who are immunocompromised or who have pre-existing conditions. If a mask is worn, it should fit well around the nose and mouth. Cloth masks are not recommended unless they are covering a surgical mask underneath.

We will not be offering COVID testing onsite at the conference. If you are traveling internationally, please refer to the CDC Requirements for International Travelers prior to making your arrangements. For everyone flying to Charleston, we suggest purchasing travel insurance in the event your trip is cancelled.

* New mask mandates may be implemented in the future as indicated to protect the health of our community.
