Poster Presenter Guidelines

  • Presenters will be expected to hang their posters the evening of April 23rd.
  • All poster presenters should be present at their poster by 8:30am and are expected to stay until the end of the judging period (approximately 10:30am on April 24th).
  • In order to win a recognition award, the presenter must attend the award ceremony.
  • Presenters should gather their posters after all of the judging is complete (approximately 10:30am on April 24th).
  • Presenters should work with their mentor to practice and review their presentation in advance (whether oral or poster only).
  • Presenters should dress in professional work attire.

Oral Presenter Information

  • Presenters should work with their mentor to practice and review their presentation in advance (whether oral or poster only).
  • Oral presenters will be notified approximately one month prior to April 24th that their abstract will be selected for oral presentation.
  • There will be a time limit for oral presentations; further details will be sent to presenters ahead of time.
  • PowerPoint slides should be sent to the Research Day Coordinator by noon on April 23rd so that they can be uploaded onto the system in advance.
  • Oral presenters should be present with their posters during the entire poster judging session.
  • Mentor should be present during oral presentations.
  • Presenters should dress in professional work attire.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of research can be presented at the Symposium? We encourage both basic and clinical research as long as it is original and scholarly.
  • Can I present research done with a non-Department of Medicine mentor? Yes. We encourage those who would like to share their research to submit an abstract and present a poster. Please note in order to receive a recognition award, your mentor needs to be a Department of Medicine faculty member.
  • Where can I get my poster printed? TBA
  • Can I present/submit more than one abstract? Yes, you can submit more than one abstract but you will only be allowed to present one. The abstract review committee will select the abstract for the poster presentation and/or oral presentation.
