Student National Medical Association (SNMA)
The MUSC chapter of SNMA participates in the health care education of the minority populations in Charleston, SC through sponsoring local health fairs, bone marrow drives, sickle cell testing, and a large number of other community service activities. Students work closely with their advisors to develop seminars for educational enrichment, board review, residency applications, etc. SNMA informs minority high school and college students, of the many opportunities available to them in the health care profession.
Student National Medical Association at MUSC presents: Minority Association of Premedical Students (MAPS) Conference
Date: January 11, 2020
Undergraduate pre-medical students who are underrepresented in medicine are invited to a conference providing information on the medical school application process and life as a medical student and physician. Attendees will be given the opportunity to meet faculty and staff from the College of Medicine Dean's Office, network with MUSC attending physicians and resident physicians in various specialties, meet current MUSC medical students, and participate in a vital signs and ultrasound workshop. Speakers will be presenting invaluable information regarding admissions, diversity, wellness, and interview preparation. There will also be panels and talks composed of current URM medical students and physicians to discuss their journeys in medicine.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students who register.
