Prerequisites include two semesters of college level calculus or permission of Admissions Committee. Many courses require some knowledge of mathematics and biological science. Students missing prerequisites for specific courses can make them up. This is most readily accomplished through courses taken at local consortium institutions (College of Charleston or The Citadel).
Transfer of Credit
In exceptional circumstances, students may, with the approval of the Graduate Training Committee, transfer credits for graduate level course work taken at other institutions prior to admission into the program. At least 33 percent of semester credit hours applied toward a Medical University degree must be earned through instruction by the University. Regardless of the number of credits awarded, students are expected to complete a core of courses at the Medical University of South Carolina.
