BMTRY 783 Statistical Methods for Bioinformatics

Description

This course will provide a survey of bioinformatics research areas and statistical methods needed to analyze data in these areas. This course will introduce students to biological concepts and statistical problems in various bioinformatics research areas, including functional genomics,population genetics, and cancer genomics. Statistical methods, such as multiple testing, Hidden Markov Model (HMM), clustering, classification, and high dimensional data analysis will be discussed to address statistical problems in these research areas. Freeware and online resources related to these topics will be explored.
